Innovation in food packaging

Emilia-Romagna Region - Directorate General for Agriculture Hunting and Fisheries & Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

The core of Emilia-Romagna agri-food policy is to develop a food production with an high level of quality and obtained with sustainable methods to improve the export toward the national and international markets.

That target requests to assure innovation and to optimize the support of the available funding instruments for the farmers.

The aim of our participation in the FoodChains4 Europe project was to improve the implementation of the regional policies that stimulate the delivery of innovation. That’s the main reason why Emilia-Romagna Region’s action plan was focused on sustainable innovation in food packaging with the aim of working on the integration between the funds of the OP ERDF - European Regional Development Fund and the OP EARDF - European Agricultural Rural Development Fund also to favor a system action.

Thanks to F4CH project the harmonization process started from a governance level and we are particularly proud of the fact, for the first time, in the Emilia-Romagna Region - DG Agriculture, an European project has influenced the content and has been mentioned in an official regional call for proposal (the Resolution no. 153 of 10 February 2020).

The implementation of our action plan allowed us to structure our policy improvement’s proposal on a solid background: the cooperation between Regional Directorates and officials - which managing the main European funds - has been consolidated.
